Backyard Entertaining

Well it has been a wee bit between posts. Things have been rather quiet since the holidays. However wedding season is almost upon us, so I'm sure things will start to pick up shortly. Wedding Season is just one type of event where the use of LED is a staple in most centerpieces and effect lighting. However, when I think wedding I can't help but think that spring/summer BBQ's are just around the corner as well! It's always fun to play with new tableware, plates, glasses, napkins, chair covers, cute place setting cards and accents. Why not incorporate some lighting to go with your fun and funky creations! Floralytes are a great addition, I've said it before and I'll say it again, they can be added to your drinks, centerpieces, trays of food, they really can be put anywhere. Your table umbrella can be the focal point of your table by hanging floralytes I or II and maybe twine a flower around the string for an added touch of summer, fresh or fake! Do you have a pool? Try floating some LED lilies in various colours or maybe just one colour with an RGB bulb. What about your garden? Sure we all have the solar powered lanterns but what about an added punch of light in your flower pots or lawn ornaments? Ponds are another great spot to place lighting, what about a floating lantern? Flameless candles staggered in various sizes around your pool or deck on stairs or rails looks stunning and have a calm serene effect on your atmosphere. You can really change the ambiance of any room be it indoors or out with just a bit of light. So many possibilities...Transform your next backyard party into something magical. You don't have to break the bank to throw an amazing party, a few key elements placed in the right location can make all the difference! You don't have to be a professional. Be the pro of your own party, with the right product and a little imagination your creations will have your guests wondering who you hired to decorate!

Floralytes

Wondering how to use FloraLytes?

Floralytes are taking off in the wedding and decor industry. Why? Because many halls today are saying no to an open flame. It is just too risky for them to take that chance. With that said, Floralytes are a unique twist on the candle. They provide the ambiance you are trying to achieve and add stunning colour to any centerpiece, floral arrangement, table setting, ice sculptures, vases and can even be placed in the bouquets of your bridal party.

So Many Floralytes which do I use?

If your creation is made with any type of water, this includes water gel beads then I suggest using the Submersible Floralytes. They are perfect for such creations and a perfect way to light up any centrepiece. Their size allows for them to fit into most glassware with the exception of the Eiffel Tower Vase. However You could use a Floralyte I or II with the Eiffel Tower. The following will help you decide which floralyte is best for you!

Floralyte I

This is for a one time use only, after your done you toss it away. This light is not meant to be used in waters or gels. They will last you atleast 24hrs and are available in 10 different colours. These ones would be perfect for the tall skinny vase you want to add some light to. They are sold in multiples of 10. Dimensions are 1.75"L x0.75"W x 0.5"H

Floralyte II

Much like the floralyte I, it too is a disposable accent light for out of water applications. However this one comes with an on/off switch. It has the potential for atleast 3 re-uses. It too will last 24hrs and are available in 10 colours. Once again this is the perfect light for an Eiffel Tower style vase as it can be lowered into position and will fit the neck of tight vases. I have been told that people have used it in water gels, but be warned if that is your intention, the colour from the light could leak into your creation and the life of the light could be shortened. They are sold in multiples of 10. Dimensions are 1.75"L x0.75"W x 0.5"H

Submersible Floralyte I

This is a submersible accent light with an on/off switch and comes with 2 replaceable CR2032 batteries. This light lasts atleast 24hrs and is available in 10 different colours one of with is an RGB light that cycles through all the colours. All you have to do is twist the light tightly to ensure it is sealed and the light will be activated. Dimensions 1.125"D x 1.00"H

Submersible Floralyte II

It has an on/off switch and comes with 2 replaceable CR2032 batteries. This light lasts atleast 12 hrs. Currently it is only available in white. Sold in multiples of 10 Dimensions 1.125"D x 1.00"H

Submersible Floralyte III

This is another failry new submersible accent light that is multifunctional. Catching Up

It has been a busy several months for Kismet. I was able to get my feet wet with my first show compliments of In Style Weddings grand opening, it was both nerve racking and exciting. Then just recently I was a vendor in the Perfect Dream Bridal Show which was a huge success. I am definitely realizing the time crunch when it comes to running your own business. Trying to keep up with your duties as a wife and mother and then wearing all the hats pertaining to business. There is definitely no time to be bored! Over these last several months I have met some fantastic people in the Event Planning Industry. Tamara Kaye is the owner of In Style Weddings located in Oshawa. Tamara is a truly talented decorator with an eye for detail, she recognizes that your wedding is more than a date on a calendar, it is a memory that will be cherished forever. Tamara has aligned herself with a core group of vendors who hold their own area of expertise to assist in making your day one that won't be forgotten. If you are a bride on a budget Tamara will help you to achieve the wedding you always wanted. So if your planning a wedding or a special event of any kind please be sure to check out her website @ http://www.instyleweddings.ca

Halloween is only 7 weeks away and dare I say it....then Christmas follows. This year for Halloween I plan on doing an outdoor display of pumpkins using floralytes. These little LED lights come in several different colours, there are 10 in a package, which is great for you serial pumpkin carvers! You don't have to be a designer to create an eerie and fun effect to your displays. Floralytes make it fun, easy and affordable. I also plan on using several different sizes of Flameless Candles to help add to the effect I am trying to create. I must say this is my favourite time of year and I can't wait to get creative using these. I will post photos next month!

Keep in mind Christmas is coming, the decor candles make a fantastic gift..they are mildly scented vanilla. They would be great to use for your dining table and buffet displays. The Flameless line come in various sizes and shapes that can be added to virtually any arrangement! Be sure to check out Kismet Candles for wholesale pricing on all your lighting needs.

Till next time!

Decorate with LED for your summer parties!

Just 4 days ago I was snow tubing with my family and watching my daughter snowboard down the slopes of a local ski resort. Later we followed it up with a family snowball fight and hot chocolate by the fire and all the while it snowed, beautiful fluffy flakes, what a great day. Fast forward to today March 3rd. The temperature was 2 degrees. I was bouncing between meetings without a coat and short sleeves at that. On a day like today it is hard not to think about summer! It is so close I can almost feel the soft grass between my toes and the smell of new blooms. Summer is the best time to entertain your friends and family. There is nothing better than having a group of your closest friends and family hanging out, catching up over some good food and watching the kids all play together. For me a big part of entertaining is setting the right mood and creating the right atmosphere. Prior to starting my own lighting business I would hit the local wal-mart and pick up some citronella candles and rely on them to light my evening. What was I thinking??? There is a whole world of fun and unique ways that are inexpensive to light the night, why should the stars get all the credit?. LED is on the fast track to becoming the lighting of choice for both professional and home users. LED is inexpensive, and reusable. You don't have to worry about the dog or one of the kids knocking them over. There is nothing to fear from a flameless candle. LED comes in all kinds of different unique ways to light your life. Try placing some LED floating flowers in your pool, hot tub or pond. You could set some pillar flameless candles in various sizes along your stairs and deck rails and how about a hurricane flameless candles for your patio table. There are so many uses for LED lighting and so many options. You can transform your backyard party into a delight for the eyes that will keep your guests talking about your decorating skills for many more parties to come!
